Our mostly unexplored oceans that make up most of the Earth have always inspired me. There are countless creatures that inhabit this space that solely depends on how we treat it. Whales are the earths largest mammals, extremely social, and intelligent beings. I wanted to capture the extravagant essence of such a captivating animal. I used bright hues, and created a sense of an abstract notion using my preferred medium of oil paint. I use paint to stroke on meaningful marks of energy. Overall this creation is a reminder of the beauty and movement that is all around our land masses. We need to sustain our world on land so it can interrelate and help the world of the ocean.

The Process |

The way the abstraction came to me mid process of painting is so special. It was almost a creative force or sense that took over me. I feel it makes the piece original, bright, and adds a certain variety of color that is unique to my style. The size of this canvas challenged me, as it is quite large. Adding in the details towards the top of the painting to show the underneath of the surface of the water as the whale is diving toward the ocean floor is something that took lots of attention to focus. Created in 2022.
