The Process |
I created this from a very imaginative place. I wanted to beat the confining limits to a usual still life, and approach it more freely. I first made a small sketch based on my idea with my chosen objects (which I found in my house), and then transferred it to the large scale canvas. I purposely chose this to be of a grander scale, due to the fact that you really can imagine yourself into this scene while being in front of it. I enjoyed experimenting with different painterly techniques, such as traditional brush blending, layering, as well as using a palette knife to mimic glitched yet soft marks surrounding the objects. I loved the idea of a candle to transmit that romantic cozy feel, and have the viewer be enlightened by this glow. Paint or a rainbow, comes into the angel candle, which can be a metaphor for many different ideas.
